January - February:
AUDI FIS SKI WELT CUP
HOLIDAY ON ICE
The fascinating Ice Show "Tropicana" in the Olympic Hall.
The new C-B-R is the largest exhibition for leisure and travel in Southern Germany. Location: New Munich Trade Fair Centre.
FASCHING - MUNICH'S CARNIVAL
During the carneval season are held more than 700 fancy-dress balls and classical gala balls. The Climax of the open air activities is on March 6 (Faschings-Sonntag), where the central sqare Marienplatz is turned into a huge party zone with music, fancy dress and dancing. One of the highlights is the dance of the market women at the Viktualienmarkt on Shrove Tuesday at 11 am.
Europe's biggest circus presents at its home seat three fulminate programmes.
March - April - May:
International Jazz Festival at diverse venues, e.g.Prinzregententheater, Allerheiligen Hofkirche.
STRONG BEER SEASON
The fifth season in Bavaria. Strong beer is served during lent by many breweries. One of the highlights is the "Derbleck'n" of politicians in the Paulaner beer hall at Nockherberg.
EMIL NOLDE AQUARELLE
Exhibition in the Pinakothek der Moderne.
WEEK OF BALLET
Ballet stars of distinction perform at the Nationaltheater.
International Tennis Tournament.
Traditional popular open-air market for household products, all kinds of second-hand wares, antiquities. Merry-go-rounds and a beer tent for entertainment at Mariahilfsplatz.
MUNICH SPRING FESTIVAL
The little Octoberfest with beer tents and fun rides on the Theresienwiese.
LANGE NACHT DER MUSIK
One night long live concerts on approximately 100 stages, ranging from classical music to rock.
June - July - August:
The city of Munich celebrates the birthday of its foundation. The activities will take place around Marienplatz.
MUNICH FILM FESTIVAL
The international film scene presents itself in Munich. Venues: Gasteig Kulturzentrum and many cinemas...
TOLLWOOD SUMMER FESTIVAL
Multicultural event with music, theater, culinary specialities. Venue: At the southern end of the Olympic Park.
CLASSICAL MUSIC ON THE ODEONSPLATZ
Munich's great annual open-air concert of classical music is one of Munich's cultural summer highlights.
Opera for all - free open air performances at the square in front of the opera house.
Traditional market and fair.
IMPARK SUMMER FESTIVAL
Music, shows, games, fireworks, funrides - many performances especially for children. Venue: Olympic Park.
September - October:
MUNICH BLADE NIGHT
Every Monday evening from midst of May until midst of September inline skaters start to a fun trip through the streets.
The art weekend of the Munich galleries of contemporary art.
The worlds' largest beer festival
Popular race through impressive boulevards of Munich and the English Garden. It finishes at the Olympic Stadion.
KIRCHWEIHDULT (KERMIS DULT)
Traditional yearly open-air market for household products, all kinds of second-hand wares, antiquities.
November - December:
GERMANY CUP - ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
International ice hockey tournament in the Olympic Hall.
Christmas shopping or a cup of mulled wine at the Christmas Market on Marienplatz.
